Client: Cloud Provider

The client is the world leading company in cloud provider. It is a most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform, offering over 200 fully featured services from data center globally. Millions of customers—including the fastest-growing startups, largest enterprises, and leading government agencies—are using this platform to lower costs, become more agile, and innovate faster.

English-Indonesian Project (2020-now, still ongoing)

Our task is to localize the software, blog post, training, and campaign materials for this client so that they are understood well, sound native, as well as culturally acceptable for Indonesian market, especially programmers and developers. We have to make sure that the target has excellent translation, enabling programmers and developers to operate and build their cloud well. Finally, it will have big impacts on user experience.

Format

All materials were imported into two Cloud-based online localization tools providing translation memory, termbase, context, and analysis, to help linguists get their best translation and localization.

Challenges

Big volumes of the projects, tight deadlines, top quality, and consistency of the terms and target. We also need to meet the tone and voice of the translation as required by the client. In addition, surely, we must accommodate the cultural aspects of the target language to help reach the Indonesian market.

Result:

To achieve the success goal in this project, we apply three-steps of TEP (Translation, Editing, Proofreading), performed by three different linguists. Every member of the teams involved here are those with good skill and experience. We conduct regular meetings of preparation and evaluation. After the team gets the scorecard, it should be read and understood by all team member, therefore, no more errors made by the team. We always discuss intensively among the team during the project.

High quality, consistent, readable, and acceptable translation can be achieved. Thanks to all linguists involved in this collaboration, so that all projects can be completed well, with on time delivery, and yes, it is still going on until now. During this period, surely the client achieves growth in the market share and benefit in Indonesia.

Translation and Localization Case Study for MMORPG Project

Client: MMORPG Game by a Leading game company

This is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) project developed by a leading game developer and publisher. It is one of the MMORPG games that has received the most attention in recent years. Not only does it show the form of the most captivating MMORPG game, but this game also tries to provide perfection from the various concepts. This game is very famous and is expanding its market share, especially in South East Asia region.

English-Indonesian Project (around 2017-2019)

Our responsibility to localize the client’s game, especially the UI content, such as the characters’ name, hero and monster, quest, place description, conversation, etc., including players’ queries and questions, therefore, they are easily understood by Indonesian players, sound native, and adhere to local cultural norms. The target must have excellent translation so that players can have the best experience while playing the game.

Format

The sources are given in a format determined by the client, and translated using the Tool provided by the client. The tool is regularly updated to improve the performance and support linguists providing their best translation. It is also used Xbench to support the Quality Assurance process.

Challenges

Large project volumes, strict deadlines, excellent quality, and consistency in the terms used. Additionally, we must adhere to the client’s requests regarding the translation’s tone and style. To help us reach the Indonesian market, we must undoubtedly also take into account the cultural elements of the target language. In localizing the characters, we need to discuss within the team and the Lead Linguist from the client side, as well as find the best equivalent representing and acceptable within the Indonesian culture.

Result:

We used TEP (Translation, Editing, and Proofreading), a three-step process carried out by three different linguists, to accomplish the success goal in this endeavor. We hold frequent meetings to discuss the production, both within the team and the Lead Linguist from the client side. We always had lengthy team discussions while working on this assignment. Sometimes, several changes were needed after checking by the client. We had to ensure to provide fast response and support for the client. We made database for this changes as well, including the glossaries for our own team.

Our team were ready to work overtime to meet the client’s expectation, and provide translation that was readable, acceptable, and accurate. There were a total of nine linguists working for this project in a focused manner in almost two years with almost one million wordcount. Thank you to all the linguists who participated in this collaboration, which enabled all projects to be finished successfully and on schedule. Without a doubt, the client increased its market position and benefits in especially SEA market.

Case Study - Sportswear Manufacturer

Client: Sportswear Manufacturer

The client is one of the biggest sportswear manufacturers in the world. The company is a manufacturer of sporting goods and equipment designing, developing and marketing footwear, apparel and accessories for men, women and children. They also license and authorize various independent companies that manufacture and sell fragrances, eyewear, watches and accessories. They sell products directly to customers through company-owned and licensed retail stores, e-commerce platforms and wholesalers. The brand also sponsors national teams of various sports around the world. The company has a presence across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), the Americas, and Asia-Pacific.

English-Indonesian Project (2018-now, still ongoing)

Our task is to localize the product catalogue, company documents, presentation, agreement, and SOPs. The materials need to be localized for Indonesian market, including business interest for its company located in Indonesia. They target language (Indonesian) should sound native and culturally acceptable for Indonesian market. We have to ensure its quality in terms of accuracy, readability and acceptability; therefore, it will bring positive outcome for this brand in Indonesia.

Format

The materials are imported to CAT Tools to help linguists get their best translation and localization. Because the projects have been started in 2018, TMs from previous projects are still used.

Challenges

Big volumes of the projects, target format (DTP), deadlines, and good quality. In addition, we must accommodate the cultural aspects of the target language.

Result:

In this project, we apply three-steps of TEP (Translation, Editing, Proofreading). The proofreader has also the role to perform DTP. For some projects, it is also used Adobe Photoshop and CorelDRAW in the DTP step. Every team member involved are those with good skill in translating. During the production, all team members have intensive communication to ensure the quality.

It is achieved high-quality, consistent, readable and acceptable translations. We thank all the linguists involved in this collaboration. The client still trusts us to do their various projects till now. Having the materials translated, customers will definitely achieve market share expansion and profits in Indonesia.
